Walk-in Clinic For Illnesses, Injuries, and Quick Medical Care
We are here when you need us
It can be difficult to know when to go to a walk-in or convenient care clinic versus when to go to the emergency room. At Matthews-Vu Medical Group, we strive to educate our patients about the differences between these facilities, and offer easy access to fast acute care when needed.
Walk-in centers like ours are equipped to diagnose and treat non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, such as flu symptoms, minor sprains and strains, or any symptoms that would prompt a visit to your primary care doctor. Walk-in care can have shorter wait times and lower costs than emergency rooms.

FAQs About Walk-in Care For Illness and Injury
When Should I Seek Walk-in Care?
The Walk-in Clinic at Matthews-Vu-Weber is equipped to diagnose and treat a wide variety of non-life-threatening conditions. In a walk-in care facility, patients spend much less time waiting to be seen and generally pay much lower copays than they would at an ER. In fact, Matthews-Vu's Walk-in services are billed as extended-care, which means your copay is the same as an office visit with your primary care provider.
Come to our Walk-in center if you experience any of the following symptoms and are not able to make an appointment with your primary care provider.
- Cold symptoms
- Headache/Migraine
- Congestion
- Cough
- Strep throat
- Flu symptoms
- Vomiting/fever
- Ear infection
- Minor injuries
- Lacerations
- Burns
- Animal/insect bites
- Sunburn/Rash
- Allergies
- Minor sprains/strains
- Cuts/scrapes
- Urninary Tract Infections
- Small bone fracture (fingers or toes)
- The need to obtain a Sports physical with appropriate paperwork/form
- Any illness or injury that would prompt a visit to your primary care
When Should I Go To An Emergency Room?
An emergency room is for serious and life-threatening emergencies only. Emergency room staff are equipped to diagnose and treat any condition using MRIs, radiology labs, ultrasounds, CAT scans, and emergency surgery.
Do not hesitate to call an ambulance if you believe someone’s life may be at risk, as life-saving treatment can be given in an ambulance en route to the ER.
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call 911 and/or go to the nearest ER immediately:
- Trouble breathing or chest pain
- Fainting
- Sudden weakness or difficulty speaking
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Severe pain or serious injury
What Qualifies As A Standard Sick Visit?
A sick visit is simply a visit to your doctor when you aren’t feeling well, and when you can be treated by your physician during normal business hours. If you experience any of the following symptoms, make an appointment with your primary care doctor, rather than going to an urgent care facility or ER:
- Runny nose
- Simple backache
- Sore throat
- Earache
- Cuts and scrapes
- Tick bites
- Flu or cold symptoms
- Urinary tract infection
